Almost any young tree can benefit from staking. When planting young fruit trees with leafy canopies, it is always wise to stake the tree for support and better root development. Three stakes are applied in a triangular pattern just outside of the tree's canopy. Orange, apple, avocado, mango and other fruit trees all should receive multiple stakes in their first year of growth.
