How Big of Trees Can You Cut With an Electric Chainsaw?

There three basic sizes of chain saws: lightweight, midweight and heavyweight. The lightweight can cut trees with a circumference of 6 to 10 inches, advises the University of South Dakota. The midweight cuts 14 to 18 inch trunks. The heavyweight cuts trunks 20 inches or larger, informs the University of South Dakota.
