Wheat may require phosphorus in April, writes Gene Logsdon in "Small-Scale Grain Raising." Small-scale grain growers who use well-drained soil with a pH around 6.4 may not need any chemical fertilizers. Planting soybeans before planting wheat will enrich the soil and no fertilizer is needed for the wheat.
