What Fertilizer to Use When Starting Plants From Seeds Indoors

According to the University of Missouri Extension, you should plant seeds in a loose, fine-textured soil that contains no fertilizer. After the seeds have germinated, you can water seedlings soon after they emerge with a soluble houseplant fertilizer diluted to half strength.
