Distilled water may make a lima bean plant grow taller, as it does not contain salts and contaminants that build up over time in the soil. However, distilled water requires expensive boiling and recollection equipment. It also lacks minerals present in tap water, so add worm compost or a balanced fertilizer to the soil.
