Can You Use Weed Control & Fertilizer on a 3 Week Old Lawn?
Starter fertilizer can be applied to a newly seeded lawn at the time of planting and again when the new sprouts reach 2 inches. The university of Illinios recommends feeding a 10-10-10 fertilizer at a rate of 5 pounds per 1,000 square feet. Post emergent broadleaf weed control products should be avoided until the seedlings have been mowed three times. A pre-remergent herbicide containing siduron can be applied at the time of planting and is combined in many starter fertilizers on the market.
