Do Beans Grow Better in Clay Potting Soil or Sand?

Beans prefer sandy soil, but will grow in clay potting soil. Amend heavy clay soil by mixing sand to loosen the soil. Mix the sand into the top 6 to 8 inches of the soil before planting. Plant your beans on a site with full sun.
