Do Tomatoes Need to Be Cooled at Mid Day?

Tomatoes may need shading during the hottest part of the day if temperatures are in excess of 90 degrees Fahrenheit. During these times, plants may need to be shaded. Tomatoes need eight hours of sunlight daily and should receive no more than three hours shade in the afternoon.
