What to Do if Bamboo Is Not Growing As Fast As Expected

Spreading bamboo naturally grows quicker than clumping types. It takes up to three years for bamboo to establish itself and obtain its fast growth rate. Bamboo is a heavy feeder and properly maintained plants grow quicker. Fertilize monthly with a 17-6-12 water-soluble or slow releasing fertilizer blend during its growth season. In winter, fertilize monthly with a half-strength blend.
