What to Do When Turfgrass Floods?

Flooded turfgrass in water above 60 degrees survives from four to six days. In colder water it may survive longer. When the water recedes, fertilize surviving turfgrass with one-half lb. of nitrogen per 1000 square feet. Replace dead grass. Zoysia, Bermuda and the 609 buffalograss cultivar are highly flood-tolerant turfgrasses.
