Southern highbush blueberry bushes are more tolerant of hot, dry weather and high soil pH than other types of blueberry bushes. The following varieties produced large crops of flavorful berries at the University of California trial gardens: Bluecrop, Georgia Gem, Misty, O'Neal, Reveille and Sunshine Blue.
