Is Fall a Good Time to Plant a Tree?

Trees grown in containers or that have the roots wrapped in burlap can be planted in the fall. Bare-root trees should be planted in the spring. The cooler fall temperatures reduce stress on the tree, while the warm soil temperature encourages root growth.
