The sawtooth oak tree, whose scientific name is Quercus acutissima, is a fast-growing shade tree which can reach 40 to 60 feet in height and spread. A native of Japan, Korea and other parts of Asia, the sawtooth oak was introduced to the U.S. in 1862.
