Pole beans, such as the popular Kentucky Wonder variety, are best grown on trellises, poles, teepees or other structures that are secure against the wind, and about six to eight feet in height maximum to allow for safe harvesting. Chain link fences are another alternative, as the plant can weave its way through the many supports.
