The two species of Douglas fir--Rocky Mountain Douglas fir and Douglas fir--belong to the pine family. Some of the most commercially valuable lumber trees, Douglas firs regularly grow to 220 feet tall. As of 2000, a Douglas fir in Coos County, Oregon, measured 328 feet.
