The Right Depth for Growing Canna Lilies

Although it is commonly called a bulb, the canna lily actually grows from a rhizome or tuber. The tuber should be planted 4 to 6 inches deep. Space the tubers 2 feet apart when growing tall varieties and 12 inches apart for medium or dwarf.
