When to Start Pepper Seeds in Ohio?

Start pepper seeds (Capsicum species) indoors, 6 to 8 weeks before the last predicted spring frost, May 3 in Akron, or April 14 in Cincinnati, for example. After danger of frost is past, set the pepper transplants in warm, well-drained soil and use mulch to help regulate temperature and conserve water.
