Will Choctaw Pecan Trees Grow in Kansas?

Pecans (Carya illinoensis), generally hardy in USDA zones 5B through 9A, grow in Kansas (hardiness zone 5B to 6A). Cultivar, 'Choctaw,' however, is not advised in Kansas, according to Kansas State University extension, because of frequent cold injury damage to the trees.
