Is an All-Purpose Plant Food Okay for Bulbs?

According to the University of Illinois Extension, all-purpose plant food is fine for bulbs. The Extension recommends using a 10-10-10 soluble fertilizer or an equivalent bulb fertilizer. Spring bulbs should not be fed immediately after they have started flowering.
