Start pepper (Capsicum) seeds indoors, six to eight weeks before the last frost date (around April 1 in Fayetteville, NC). Set the plants in the ground once the soil has warmed, as peppers do not grow well in cold soil. Mulch is useful for moderating soil temperature and moisture conservation.

Keywords: North Carolina peppers, pepper seed starting, North Carolina vegetables
