Where to Locate a Composter

A homemade or manufactured composter should be placed in a shady, inconspicuous area of the back yard that's close to a water supply. Keep compost away from a tree that will send roots out to the rich nutrients of composted materials. Locate the compost away from a building, in an accessible area, for ease of maintenance.
