Cow manure is an excellent lawn fertilizer. Fresh cow manure should not applied to your lawn. Compost it first, or let it sit out for a season. Cow manure is high in nutrients, containing about 10 percent nitrogen, 7.5 percent potash and 2.7 percent phosphate. It also retains moisture and aerates the soil, making a healthier environment for grass.
