A healthy clump of daylilies should strangle weeds easily. Chemical weed killers can kill indiscriminately; weed grass herbicides will damage daylilies and may destroy expensive hybrids. Use a weekly vinegar treatment on broadleaf weeds as a last resort. Pull weeds by hand or mulch daylily beds with cardboard.
