Hydroponics is a method of growing plants without soil. The nutrients needed by a tomato plant are added to the water of hydroponically-grown tomato plants. Tomatoes can grow with their roots dangling in the water, but most growers grow them in a soil-less media watered by a hydroponic nutrient solution.
