Buying a ready made Christmas wreath can be very expensive, but you can make an eye pleasing, budget conscious wreath at home, which requires few supplies and comes together in no time. The best part about this wreath is the flexibility of using any items you may have on hand to decorate it with, any color paint to match your home decor and any size wreath to fit the area perfectly. Put on some Christmas music and bring the family together to help make a Christmas grapevine wreath that can be used year after year.
Select an 18 inch round grapevine wreath. Any size can be used depending on how large or small you want the wreath to be. Lay your wreath on a work surface, covering it to protect from paint and glue.
Break or cut twigs into pieces approximately 3 inches long. Make star shapes for the wreath by laying two twigs to form an x, and secure them together with floral wire. Lay two more pieces in the shape of a plus sign and lay over the first twigs. Secure them all together with floral wire. Make about three or four star shapes for each wreath you are making.
Glue pine cones to the wreath, grouping three to four together. Add the star shapes by gluing in between the groups of pine cones.
Paint the wreath with silver spray paint, covering the pine cones, twigs and grapevine wreath completely. Be sure to paint the wreath in a well ventilated area, preferably outside if possible. Let dry completely.
Glue holly berry sprigs onto the painted wreath. Cut the sprigs to about 2 inches long and glue intermittently over the wreath to add color.
Cut a piece of 20-gauge wire into an 8 inch length. Insert the ends of the wire through the back of the wreath, leaving a loop of wire and twisting the ends together to hold. Hang the wreath from the wire loop.
