Candy apples are a staple during the Halloween season. They can either be made with corn syrup or caramel, although when they are made with caramel they are referred to as caramel apples. There are many different versions of a candy apple. Some include coating the corn syrup with nuts. This isn't a good idea if someone coming to your party is allergic to peanut products. Instead, you can add some cinnamon for extra flavor.
Remove the stems from your clean apples and stick the sharp end of your skewer in the spot where the stem was. The skewer should be pushed in far enough that it goes half way up the middle of the apple. Set your apples on a sheet of wax paper.
Place 1 cup of water, 2/3 cup of corn syrup and 2 cups of sugar in a pot. Bring these ingredients to a boil, stirring often.
Turn the heat to medium and continue cooking until the mixture becomes thick.
Remove your pot from the heat and stir in the 2 tbsp. of cinnamon.
Dip each apple in the candy mixture one at a time.
Set the cinnamon candy apples back on the wax paper and place them in the fridge until they are cool.
