Grape trellises tucked within the landscape provide a private oasis to the garden. Made in a wide range of sizes, they create a focal point to the space and are a medium for adding decorative touches such as lights, flowers and other plants, all of which add color and texture to the trellis. As the trellis comes alive with the sweet, succulent fruits, the space below becomes a magical, shaded retreat to use for year-round living.

Lights

Lights nestled within the grape trellis create a festive feel to the landscape. Found in a wide range of sizes, shapes and colors, lights can hang within the vines or be situated at the base of the trellis to create a focal point at the trellis and extend the light to surrounding beds. Paper lanterns come in a rainbow of colors and look striking when hung from the roof of the trellis to create a warm feel to the garden. Solar lights are ideal staked around the perimeter of the trellis to create an easy-to-maintain display.

Containers

Add flower-filled containers to nestle at the base of the grape trellis. Tuck them around the perimeter of the trellis to add a vibrant display to the garden. Drought-tolerant perennials such as purple coneflowers and coreopsis create masses of bright blooms that complement the trellis while creating a low-maintenance design. Low-growing annuals flowers such as pansies and petunias can help fill in spaces between containers, and herbs like chives, parsley and cilantro add a sculptural shape and aromatic scent to the space. Flowering bushes such as hydrangea are ideal for large containers that sit at the entrance of the grape trellis for a colorful welcome.

Patio

Create a warm and welcoming patio underneath the grape trellis for an outdoor living and dining space. The twining grape trellis provides a shaded retreat that is an ideal spot for eating favorite meals and socializing year-round. To create a low-maintenance patio, add a fresh layer of pebbles as the base of the patio. Soft underfoot and highly textured, pebbles are ideal in formal and informal settings. Over the pebbles, add an outdoor patio set for an inviting addition to the garden. Accent the space with outdoor pillows to use for lounging around and creating a sense of relaxation.
