String trimmers either come provided with a single or double cutting head. Two lines allow the trimmer to cut more than one line and can handle thicker growth areas. Whether removing a trimmer head to replace one or two string lines, the directions for removing the head remain the same. String trimmer manufacturers make the process easy, with no tools usually required and just a quick turn of the head after you follow a few safety measures.
Stop the engine before removing the trimmer head.
Pull or turn the spark plug, located on the engine, to pull it out to disconnect it.
Hold the trimmer head and turn it counterclockwise to unscrew it.
