Crisp cakes are usually some sort of fruit with a cakey topping sprinkled over them that is baked in an oven until they are crispy. Apple crisp cake can be made with cinnamon or nutmeg, depending on your taste preference. Oatmeal adds a chewy texture to the crisp cake and also makes it healthier than using just flour alone. Real butter or margarine will work in this recipe as well.
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahreinheit.
Peel, core and cut the apples into even pieces, about a quarter inch wide. Spray the pan and lay out the apples evenly in it.
Add the flour, oatmeal, sugar, butter, cinnamon or nutmeg to a bowl. If using nutmeg use only 1 tsp instead of 2 as it has a stronger flavor than the cinnamon. Mix the ingredients until they are all combined.
Sprinkle the mixture over the apples evenly. Place the pan in the oven and cook for 35 to 45 minutes or until the apples are cooked.
