When you have an abundance of apples you can use them in delicious dessert recipes, such as apple pie. If you want a different type of apple pie recipe, consider making crumb-top apple pie, which has a sweeter crumb topping. You can use red delicious apples for your crumb-top apple pie recipe or use a different type of cooking apples, like gala. You also can top your finished pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Wash eight red delicious apples with cool running water and cut the apples into thin slices using a sharp knife. Add the sliced apples to a large bowl.
Add 1 tsp. of cinnamon, 1/4 cup all-purpose flour and 1/2 cup of sugar to a small bowl and blend the ingredients well with a spoon.
Pour the mixture over the apple slices in the large bowl, spreading it evenly so that all of the apples are coated.
Add the apples with flour mixtures into a frozen pie shell. Spread the apples in the pie crust so that they are evenly distributed.
Add 1/2 cup all-purpose flour, 1/2 cup butter and 1/2 cup of brown sugar into a small bowl and mix well. Spread the mixture over the apples in the pie crust.
Bake the pie for at least one hour or until the side have turned a light brown color. Let the pie cool for a half hour before serving.
