How to Grow Head Grass

Overview

Whether you are helping small children create a grass head of their own or you are creating one for your own home, grass heads are simple to do. You can purchase grass head kits at a garden specialty store or you can create your own using some everyday household materials and some grass seed, while helping create a cleaner, healthier environment by recycling the materials needed.

Step 1

Cut the foot portion from a pair of pantyhose using sharp scissors. The portion should be about 10 inches long, to allow excess room for later use.

Step 2

Put 1 inch of potting soil in the pantyhose.

Step 3

Sprinkle grass seed on top of the potting soil and then cover with 2 to 4 inches of potting soil.

Step 4

Secure the loose end of the pantyhose with a rubber band.

Step 5

Place the tied end of the pantyhose down into a empty pudding cup.

Step 6

Sprinkle the grass head with 3 to 4 tbsp. of water. Keep the grass head moist to the touch.

Step 7

Place the grass head in an area where it will receive full to partial sun for most of the day.
