Dangling crystal prisms in your garden will create a rainbow of color whenever the sunlight touches them. Add a slight breeze to this display of color and you will have rainbows dancing around your garden landscape. You can create this effect with one crystal prism hanging from a tree limb or multiply it with many prisms dangling from wind chimes and other hanging art. Craft stores, wedding supply and chandelier supply retailers offer an array of colorful crystal prisms and strands of crystals for you to hang in your garden.
Cut strands of fishing line measuring 4 feet, 3 1/2 feet, 3 feet, 2 1/2 feet and 2 feet.
Thread one line halfway through one crystal prism. The ends of the line should be even. Thread colorful crystal beads over the ends of the double line to the crystal prism. Leave 2 inches of line open. Tie the ends of the line around a metal craft ring.
Repeat Step 2 with the remaining four lines. Tie the lines around the craft ring in a stair-stepped spiral formation or hang them in random order.
Slide the lines around the ring so that they are evenly spaced. Cover each of the knots along the top of the ring with clear, waterproof glue. Allow the glue to dry.
Attach four 1-foot lengths of small chain to the west, north, south and east positions on the craft ring with small S hooks. Connect all four chains together at the opposite ends with one large S hook. Hang the crystal prism wind chimes by the large S hook.
Measure the length inside a round planter from the center drainage hole to the top rim. Cut a length of 22-gauge craft wire twice this length, plus 10 inches.
Measure to find the center of the wire. Bend the wire at a 90-degree angle 3 inches from the center point on both sides. Twist the ends of the wire together.
Hang one end of each crystal prism strand over the straight center section of wire. Each strand is 3 feet long with metal clip on each end. You can bend the clip over the wire or attach it using another small strip of wire. Space the crystal prism strands evenly across the straight center section.
Measure the width of the base of the planter. Cut two strips of 18-gauge craft wire three times as long as the base width. Fold one wire in half around the bottom of the twisted section of 22-gauge wires. The 18-gauge wire should be at a 90-degree angle to the 22-gauge wire. Twist the doubled 18-gauge wire together tightly to form a support for the planter. Do the same with the second strand of 18-gauge wire, but direct it opposite the first. Bend the ends of the twisted 18-gauge wire to fit inside the planter.
Insert the twisted end of the 22-gauge wire through the inside of the planter and then through the drainage opening of the planter. Form the twisted wire into a loop that you can use to hang the crystal prism planter.
