There's nothing sweeter than apple pie, especially one covered with a buttery crumb topping. This sweet, classic dessert is excellent served warm or cold, and always stands out when served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F. Place the oven rack to the lowest part of the oven.
Lay the pie crust on the counter and roll it flat with a rolling pin. Gently place it into the pie pan.
Place the thin layer of apple slices on the bottom of the pan.
Combine the 1 cup of sugar with the cinnamon and sprinkle a spoonful over the apples.
Continue layering the apples and the sugar until both are completely used up. You should have a mound in the center of your pie pan.
Combine the flour, sugar and cold butter in a bowl and mix together with your hands until it forms a crumbly consistency.
Pour the crumbles on top of the pie and place the pie in the oven for 10 minutes.
Decrease the oven's temperature to 350 degrees and bake for 45 minutes, or until the crust topping is golden brown.
