An arbor, whether it stands alone or is attached to another structure, provides shelter from the sun's rays. It also serves as a decorative structure your home landscape. Knowing how to decorate a garden arbor gives you the ability to take charge of your outdoor environment, and allows you to wow family and guests with a comforting and inviting garden area.
Measure the width of the space between the arbor's legs or side panels.
Place a bench that matches the measurement in the gap. This creates a sheltered garden arbor seat on which to relax.
String a length of rope lighting on the inner sides of the garden arbor. Use zip ties to anchor the rope light to the arbor sides. Use one zip tie at the top of the arbor, and one at each of the two sides.
Place planter boxes at each side of the arbor and one behind it, against the back of the bench.
Plant established vining plants in the planter boxes. Such plants include climbing tea roses, English ivy and bleeding hearts. The vines will grow up around the garden arbor to give it a country cottage appearance.
