Green Bean Relish

2 pounds green beans
3 onions
6 1/4 cups malt vinegar
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 tablespoon flour
1 tablespoon dry mustard
1 teaspoon turmeric
1/4 cup malt vinegar

Trim beans and slice diagonally. Peel and thinly slice onions.

Combine vinegar, sugar, salt and pepper in a large pan. Bring to a boil, stirring, until sugar dissolves. Add the prepared beans and onions. Return to a boil and reduce heat. Simmer 5 minutes. Spoon mixture into warm, sterilized jars and seal.
