How to Apply Scott's Turf Builder

Overview

Scotts Turf Builder with SummerGuard is a 28-3-8 fertilizer for home lawns. It's active ingredient is bifenthrin. In addition to helping the lawn retain nutrients, Scotts Turf Builder with SummerGuard also has the ability to control ants, fleas, chiggers and mealy bugs. It is important that Scotts Turf Builder with SummerGuard is applied properly so that it is as effective as possible.

Step 1

Wear protective clothing such as gloves, goggles and mask when using Scotts Turf Builder.

Step 2

Apply Scotts Turf Builder with SummerGuard on a rain-free, windless day, ideally in June, when the targeted insects are present.

Step 3

Place 13 lbs. of Scotts Turf Builder with SummerGuard in a spreader and disperse evenly over a 5,000 sq. ft. area. Refer to the label instructions for application amounts for your specific needs.

Step 4

Push the spreader until the lawn is completely covered with the TurfBuilder.

Step 5

Water the lawn with a garden hose to settle the TurfBuilder into the soil.

Step 6

Repeat the application process eight weeks later.

Tips and Warnings

  • Do not use Scotts Turf Builder with SummerGuard on golf courses or sod farms. Do not allow children or pets to play on the lawn until it has dried completely.
