How to Rewind a Garden Hose

Overview

When you regularly water a garden, lawn or other landscape area, a garden hose serves to bring water to your planting areas effectively and conveniently. Instead of storing a garden hose in a tangled mess on the ground, store it neatly on a garden hose reel. Some hose reels wall-mount onto the side of a structure and others are reel carts designed to move around a landscape. When you finish watering your landscape, rewind a garden hose to keep it neat and clean.

Step 1

Straighten the hose along the ground to facilitate easier rewinding without the struggle of kinking or entangling.

Step 2

Grasp the handle of the hose reel and begin to turn it to the right to wind the garden hose around the circular storage area of the hose reel.

Step 3

Continue turning the handle of the hose reel to wind up the garden hose. Watch the hose as it winds around the hose reel to ensure it does not kink or catch on obstacles as it winds. Wind until you reach the end of the hose.

Step 4

Secure the nozzle of the hose on the hose reel or allow it to sit on top of the wound hose.
