How to Create a Potted Curly Willow Orchid Tree Arrangement

Potted floral arrangements offer a creative and attractive way to present a gift to someone, regardless of the occasion. In addition to standard house plant arrangements and other potted bouquets, exotic flora such as the orchid tree and curly willow add an attractive and interesting accent to your surroundings. Creating a potted curly willow orchid tree arrangement for your home decor or for a friend proves to become a creative and enjoyable process.

Step 1

Fill the bottom 2 inches of the ceramic pot with gravel. Aquarium gravel works for this.

Step 2

Layer about 3 inches of potting soil over the gravel.

Step 3

Place the dwarf orchid tree into the pot on top of the soil, and spread another 4 inches of soil around the base of the plant. Add more soil to cover the plant's root ball. Dwarf orchid trees can be purchased from reputable nurseries and online retailers of plants.

Step 4

Insert the sticks of curly willow around the potted orchid tree. Insert each twig about an inch deep, and strategically arrange them to get a 360 degree view of the arrangement.

Step 5

Fill the remaining space in the ceramic pot with an assortment of colored marbles. Large marbles show up better in potted arrangements, but using assorted sizes and colors creates an attractive texture for the floral arrangement.

Things You'll Need

  • Dwarf orchid tree
  • Curly willow twigs (about 6)
  • Large ceramic pot (color and shape optional)
