Simple to elaborate Christmas floral arrangements add character and ambiance to a dinner table. Spread holiday joy with the gift of a handmade floral centerpiece assembled in a whimsical sleigh basket or elegant ceramic container. Fragrant roses, poinsettias and carnations combine with natural cone elements for a festive arrangement. Fresh or silk florals are used to make seasonal gifts or home decorations. Round, oval and oblong arrangements are centered on a table allowing the guests to clearly see one another and the array of foods at the Christmas gathering.
Cut a piece of floral foam to fit snugly inside of the container. Place floral foam into the dish or basket. Add water to soak into Oasis floral foam if creating a fresh arrangement.
Cut several pieces of greenery at four inches long. Insert greens 1/4- to 1/2- inch into the foam at the outer edge of the container.
Place a six inch tall partially blossomed rose down into the center of the foam to secure it in place. Insert two pieces of greenery at the sides of the rose.
Cut the remaining five carnations at 5-inch lengths and insert them at angles around the main rose and outer edge of the floral arrangement. Cut the carnations at 4-inch lengths and insert them between the roses.
Fill in the floral arrangement with round Christmas ornaments, natural cones and pieces of birch twigs for an elegant table scape. A novelty pick with a reindeer or Santa character will add whimsy to an arrangement for a home with children.
Turn the arrangement and view it from all angles. Fill in any sparse areas with greenery or flowers. Add a fluffy holiday bow on a wired stick. Add fresh or faux fruit and nuts for a different dinner or gift arrangement.
