Weed Control With Coffee Grounds

Coffee grounds are a natural wonder when it comes to gardens. They contain a multitude of nutrients, have an acidic pH and the caffeine gives plants an extra boost of growing energy. Coffee is also ideal for controlling and preventing garden weeds. Unlike garden plants, weeds do not like an acidic bed, and most will not be able to root in such soil. The next time you make a cup of coffee, consider saving the grounds for your garden.

Step 1

Pull up all existing weeds. Sprinkle 10 lbs. of coffee grounds into the garden soil for every 1,000 square feet.

Step 2

Till the grounds into the soil to a depth of 6 inches.

Step 3

Irrigate the garden to water in the grounds.
