The blade on the Craftsman 3.5HP lawn edger is a reversible blade. You cannot sharpen the blade. If the blade has become dull or bent you can change the blade to get your Craftsman working again. There is no locking mechanism built into the drive shaft, so you must manually hold the drive shaft as you remove the blade. Replacement edger blades are available at home improvement centers and at Sears.
Disconnect the spark plug wire from the spark plug by pulling the wire away from the spark plug with your fingers.
Place a wrench on the outside head of the of the drive shaft and hold with one hand. Remove the locking nut that secures the blade to the drive shaft with a wrench, using your other hand.
Slide the old blade off the edger and place a new blade over the drive shaft. Secure the blade to the drive shaft with the locking nut, using a wrench.
Plug the spark plug wire back onto the top of the spark plug.
