Sesame-Sunflower Muffins

Makes 24 large muffins.

2 cups whole-wheat flour
2-1/2 cups bran
1/2 cup wheat germ
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp allspice
1 cup water
1 cup milk, at room temperature
1 cup molasses
2 eggs, at room temperature
1/2 cup sunflower oil
1 cup raisins
1/2 cup sesame seeds
1/2 cup sunflower seeds

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Grease 24 muffin cups or line with paper liners. Combine flour, bran, wheat germ, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and spices; mix well. Combine milk, molasses, eggs, and sunflower oil; mix well. Add ingredients to dry ingredients, mixing until just moistened. Gently stir in sesame seeds and sunflower seeds. Spoon into muffin cups. Bake 20 minutes.

Per muffin: 156 calories, 9 g fat, 1 mg cholesterol, 19 g carbohydrates, 5 g fiber, 5 g protein, 164 mg sodium.
