It is not uncommon to find bald patches in your lawn if you have outdoor pets. If this happens, you will need to re-seed the area to get new grass to grow. In order for your lawn to look its best, you will want the grass seeds to grow quickly so that no one will ever know the bald spot existed. This can be done in a few simple steps with just a little bit of your time.
Rake over the area where you need to apply the grass seed. Make sure that at least a quarter of an inch of the soil has been broken up.
Sprinkle a thin layer of Miracle Gro(r) potting soil over the area that you just raked.
Add your grass seed on top of the potting soil. You want to make sure you get at least three seeds in every square inch of space. Using rye grass seeds is best because they grow quickly.
Spread another thin layer of potting soil on top of the grass seed.
Water the area so that the ground is soaked. Keep the area wet by watering it at least twice per day. You should begin to see the grass growing within three days.
