Decorating Flower Pots

Gardening in containers provides you with ornamental and even edible plants when you lack the space to garden in your yard. When it comes to container gardening, you don't have to limit yourself to simply putting your plants in containers. Decorating pots for flowers and other plants makes for a creative project with an end result that further beautifies your environment.

Step 1

Choose a spot in your home or your yard where you can work without interruptions or risk of making a mess.

Step 2

Cover your work surface with a tablecloth to protect it. Alternatively, use old newspapers, which can be thrown away after use.

Step 3

Choose a stencil depicting a design of your choice. Stencil shape ideas for flower pots include insects, plants like ivy and daisies and celestial designs such as stars, moons and suns.

Step 4

Affix the stencil of your choice to the front of the flower pot.

Step 5

Fill in the open parts of the stencil with your choice of acrylic paint color.

Step 6

Remove the stencil and allow the painted design to dry. Continue to decorate with another stencil on the other side of the flower pot.
